This is an interesting idea, made me want to look into the source material. The video by Leoncito that you reference as inspo is very well done-- it was quite sad and eerie. I get similar feelings from looking at your current sketch due to the big shadowy figure. You mention making a book with character concept art, I think including a color script featuring the main environment the story takes place in would be very cool to see!
It's interesting to see that you are bringing literature and art together. The location for your project is well fitted and perfect for your art intervention as well.
I love the concept of making literature into either an animated book or zine. As someone who's witnessed the effects of postpartum depression and the effects it has on a woman's mental health I think giving these types of books more recognition is important. I love the concept art and hope to be able to read this in the near future.
