"The Art of the Sole"
As I mentioned in my previous post, my art intervention project will be about hearing and reading what people's favorite sneakers or shoes are. Instead of talking about my favorite shoes, I want to hear peoples favorite shoes and ask them why is it their favorite shoe? Does it tell a story? Do they have any specific memory of that shoe? The way this would work is by having a shoe box, a shopping bag to carry the shoe box, bunch of index cards, and a few pens. I would place the shoe box on a table where I would sit as well in the main lobby of the GSUB building. A stack of index cards would be placed next to the shoe box along with a few pens. Inside the shoebox will show one index card inside that has a question on it, which is "What is your favorite shoe? And why?". The person would see my shoebox and out of curiosity, he or she would approach me and open the box to see what's inside. They think it would be a shoe but instead they will get hit with a question and they will have to write down and tell me their favorite shoe. Finally, they would put their responses inside the shoebox and I will wait for another person to arrive. This project will last about either 2 to 3 days, depending how much responses I get.
