Research Questions:

  1. How can video games like Minecraft help kids learn biblical stories and concepts?

  2. What game mechanics work best for teaching about the Bible?

  3. What challenges might come up when making a religious-themed game?

  4. How do Christian video games balance being fun and educational?

  5. What do parents and teachers think about using games to teach religion?

Summary of Findings:

From my research, I found that video games can be a really effective way to teach the Bible because they make learning interactive and fun. The Minecraft article shows how a popular game can be adapted to teach Bible stories in a way that keeps kids engaged.

I also found an article titled "Reaching Gamers With the Gospel" published by Lifeway Research. The article discusses how Christian organizations are engaging with the gaming community to share the gospel. It highlights initiatives like mission trips to gaming conventions and the development of faith-based gaming content. The article emphasizes the importance of meeting gamers where they are and using gaming as a tool for outreach.  Reaching Gamers With the Gospel

At the same time, I learned that making a religious game comes with challenges. The content has to be accurate and respectful, and the game has to stay fun while still teaching meaningful lessons.

The article aims to report research findings and share insights on faith-based engagement in gaming. Its purpose is informative, not promotional.

Art Intervention Concept:

For my BFA project, I want to create an interactive video game that teaches people about the Bible in a fun way. I’ll use animation and storytelling to bring Bible stories to life and include puzzles or challenges to make learning more engaging. My goal is to help people who might think the Bible is boring see it in a new, exciting way while still learning the important messages.
