In the world of chaos that we currently live in, everyone is wondering when there will be peace. From the wars going on to countries who are under civil unrest, peace is the one thing on everyone’s mind. When thinking about this, I was reminded of the concept of utopia, an idealized or perfect society. After careful consideration, I decided to make my BFA project about the longing for a utopian-like peace in a world where that can never happen. As much as people would want to live in a place that's like a utopia, it is not possible in our world that has many flaws.
The article I chose speaks about having inner peace despite the chaos going on around the world. The article opens up by stating that despite world peace declining over the years, 61% of people said that they feel inner peace during difficult times. It continues on to speak about how not only would people have inner peace but also have harmony and balance in their lives. 80% of people felt that they feel harmony with others and 59% felt that there is balance in various aspects of their lives. It ends stating that if world leaders want peace they should consider using inclusive wellbeing measures to try to better understand the lives of the people they are leading.
This article sits adjacent with my BFA project because it speaks about having inner peace despite the world’s chaos. This means a lot to me because I myself find inner peace even though there is chaos all around me. It amazes me sometimes that I can feel this way when I know that not everything around me is okay. During my moments of inner peace, I find myself wondering if only the world was this peaceful. But unfortunately, I know that it will never be possible.
