I chose this link because the overall story feels like a betrayal, a lie after lie. People usually say “We have to protect the kids” to push for laws or regulations that don’t or barely help them. The government seems to care less and less about if kids eat, or survive the end of a school day, or actually learn history. But act fake concerned if they’ll see a gay person it’ll ruin their life. And the thing that shows the lack of care the most is saying to a sick child that we basically won’t help you get better. I can barely watch St. Jude commercials yet the people in charge will cut funding for cancer research and feel jolly after because they saved a few bucks.
This relates to my BFA project because I want to show/express betrayal or the feeling of being lied to in photos. Like everyone is in on a sick joke but you. I want it to be printed on cloth for it to feel more personal and it’s a stylistic choice for me. This article states sad facts about the state of medical research and how they’re getting less and less funding. It’s not comfortable to hear.
