evan blumer’s piece, “brick by fucking brick” created on procreate, depicts someone holding a flag, walking forwards with a raging expression, buildings on fire; basically everything is in shambles. blumer’s artwork was inspired by the album ‘american idiot’ by green day; living in a post-9/11 america, discouraged of the american life and his own. using that inspiration from the album, it represents the state our world is in. some interesting aspects of his artwork is symbolization of the color red that’s surrounding the piece, the figure that’s front and center, the flag, the buildings that’s on fire, and etc.
this piece is powerful, it symbolizes our political parties in power around the world and resilience in humanity, stated by evan. society has not changed for the better, and this piece explains why. the figure that’s walking in anger is significant, because americans will do anything for change, for justice, for equality. the capital and white house are in flames; that’s how bad everything is. the colors, as well, bring out the most rage and anger that we feel, as a country.
blumer’s piece is, like i’ve stated, powerful. i feel that it can do more good, can let others know that this is what our president, the parties involved, the government is doing to america and it’s citizens. that, we the people, can make the change for a better tomorrow. it affects, not just me, but everyone else because nowadays, people are normalizing racism, people dying from gun violence and nothing is being done about it. you’re seeing our nation in flames; and it’s not just america, it’s around the world. we are going backwards in time.
blumer’s piece is, no doubt, art. if i saw this on social media, on a subway or posted under a bridge, 100% i would repost this on my story/page (with credit, of course) for everyone to see. it such a moving statement, even in this world, it motivates activists to see what corrupted government we live in. overall, i enjoyed every detail of this piece.
