I hope this week has been a good one.
My name is Arizabeth Baez Flores, and I'm an artist who is a senior at New Jersey City University. I wanted to see if you would be interested in collaborating with me on my art intervention. I am currently creating an art intervention that has a certain goal. I'm envisioning a 16x20 canvas with a 3D heart in the center. The heart would represent a visual of emotions, feelings, and a mix of dark hues of color. On top of the heart, there would be a big band-aid. That band-aid would represent the "united we heal" concept. I would love to put this canvas in your hospital hallway, where people would enter and be able to see it. My goal here is to let people know there is help out there.
My concept is to spread awareness of the benefits of psychotherapy and all the types that exist. I would create the flyers that would be hung up on the wall or on a small table for people to grab. Stepping back to the canvas, the bandaid would be writable. Meaning, I would love for anyone who sees it to write a positive affirmation on the band-aid. This is to represent "curing the heart". Having the public take part in this art intervention would tie this artwork together. A quote that will be seen in the canvas is " we are all united with love, and will heal together if we have each other".
The reason why I want to have this in your hospital is that I see a lot of flyers and topics being promoted in the hallway. But I wanted to grab people's attention by having them see the display first. Once they are there, they are able to see the flyers for the topic "Psychotherapy". It just changes the way people will see it. Having this set at the hospital is perfect because many people sit in the waiting area, and this art intervention can get them hooked to look and receive information in a new way.
At the bottom, there will be a sketch to give an idea of how it would be publicly displayed.
