Artist Statement: Ingrid Rivera
My name is Ingrid Rivera, and I am a graphic designer and visual storyteller. My artistic practice explores the mixture of culture, memory, and personal narrative. I draw inspiration from my Hispanic heritage and the stories embedded in everyday objects, food, and family traditions. Recently, I expanded my work through an art intervention that engages participants directly, inviting them to share stories, recipes, and memories. With my art intervention, I’m transforming the private into something public.
I work across a variety of mediums, including oils, gouache, colored pencils, and digital tools. Each medium offers a unique opportunity to experiment with texture, color, and form, allowing me to push the boundaries of my creativity. My process is driven by curiosity and dialogue. Whether I am painting, designing, or creating an interactive experience, I strive to create work that resonates emotionally and invites reflection.
What excites me the most is how art can connect people and preserve memories. I’m inspired by artists who focus on storytelling and community, and I hope to follow in their footsteps while finding my own voice. My work stands out because it blends traditional and contemporary approaches, focusing on narrative and interaction, and creates experiences that are both visual and tangible, yet deeply personal. Through my art, I aim to honor heritage, spark conversation, and craft work that is meaningful, accessible, and alive with memory.
