How Trump's rhetoric compares to historic fascist language- PBS

This article from PBS is an interview between Amna Nawaz and Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a professor of history at the New York University. In the article, Nawaz and Ben-Ghiat discuss Trump’s speaking points at his October 27th 2024 rally during his reelection campaign as President- specifically when he talks about America being an ‘occupied country’- and how disturbingly similar they are to the fascistic rhetoric of Mussolini and the Nazi Party. This article really peaked my interest because, almost a year following this rally, Trump and his administration have only doubled down on fascistic policies and actions, such as deploying the National Guard in major cities and deporting immigrants, both illegal or not. It angers me deeply to know that he and his people made their points loud and clear and showed the country that it was okay to let our ugliest side take over and that it was the only way to survive.
