Post 3/ Email / Collaboration Request - Art Intervention "The Nomad's Mugshot"

 Good afternoon NJAIJ,  

 

I hope this email finds you well, my name is Pedro Jimenez, and I’m a Hispanic Illustrator based in Jersey City, currently attending NJCU. I have been doing research regarding organizations that are against ICE within my state and was hoping to collaborate with you guys.  
 

I am reaching out to you regarding a request on your organization New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, hoping to display an art intervention that would make the public react. Mainly to elaborate more on what it is, an art intervention is a project that interacts with the audience and aims to achieve social engagement based on political issues. The title of my project is called “The Nomad’s Mugshot”. It explores topics like immigration, resistance, and displaced people.  

 

My Art Intervention will display two mugshots of my nomad character on your website, mainly to regain the gaze of how they are trying to dehumanize people. Illustrating a rundown mugshot wall with my character “The nomad”, showing resilience and hope against the system. I hope to bring awareness and engagement for all those who can’t speak or feel hopeless with the current ICE raids.

 

I would truly appreciate this opportunity of being able to display my project to bring some hope to our community. Further Below there will be sketches of my character and what the idea would be.
